2017 PRESS RELEASE | Third Annual William Dickey Broadside Contest Winner

BERKELEY, CA (March 2, 2017) – After receiving poetry submissions from across the country for the third annual William Dickey Memorial Broadside Contest, hit & run press has a winner, selected by poet Mary Ruefle:

Mikko Harvey received an MFA from Ohio State University, where he served as a poetry editor for The Journal. You can find his poems in places such as FIELD, Gulf Coast, Iowa Review, Kenyon Review, and Pleiades. He now lives in Berkeley, California.

hit & run press launched the broadside contest in late 2014 in honor of poet and teacher, William Dickey. The goal of the annual contest is to promote the broadside form, as well as re-open a dialogue about Dickey, a lauded American poet who produced 15 books of poetry during his 30-year career.

 

First prize is $1,000 plus a limited edition letterpress broadside of the winning poem.
